UPPER SCHOOL TEACHING ASSISTANT OPPORTUNITY

     The Green Tree School, located in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, has an opening for a teacher assistant in our upper school for students ages 14-18 who are identified as seriously emotionally disturbed.  The salary and benefits are excellent, and you will be a participating member of a multidisciplinary team that functions together on a daily basis.

        Green Tree School is an Approved Private School serving children who are seriously emotionally disturbed, autism spectrum disorder, and learning disabled.  We also have an early intervention program for children ages three to five with developmental delays.  In addition to our education program, we have a clinic directed by a board-certified psychiatrist.  All of our students receive the stated therapies including counseling as indicated on their IEP.  The upper school is located in a historic building, and we have two satellite classes–one for children with autism spectrum disorder at Cora Services Inc., and a second for seriously emotionally disturbed students at Friend’s Hospital, a residential treatment facility.  There is a teacher and teacher assistant in every classroom.

THERAPEUTIC STAFF SUPPORT (TSS)

     This behavioral health position provides one-to-one behavioral health interventions to a  child or adolescent with a serious emotional disturbance in order to prevent more restrictive services or out-of-home placement and to promote age-appropriate psychosocial growth.  The TSS works under the clinical direction  of a Behavior Specialist, works collaboratively with the family, teachers and designated individuals to help them develop the skills and techniques needed to integrate the child into normalizing activities.   

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An associate’s degree, or at least 60 college credits.
