Case Consultation

As educators address individual students’ behavioral and mental health needs, they often find themselves in complex and difficult situations where problems defy easy solutions. Green Tree Partnerships consultants can help by providing short-term, ad hoc consultation focused on immediate concerns or through ongoing, regularly scheduled consultation that takes a long-range view. Our consultants can offer assistance in a variety of situations:

Emergency Consultation

Sudden escalation in violent behavior or refusal to attend school may place a student at high risk of precipitous out-of-district placement. Green Tree consultants can respond quickly to schools’ requests for immediate assistance by developing emergency interventions to stabilize crises, while planning interventions that promote ongoing success.

Alternatives to Out-of-District Placement Consultation

In situations where a school district and parents are considering a student’s placement in an Approved Private School (APS) but are uncertain about the appropriateness of such a step, Green Tree consultants can provide a rapid assessment of the child’s situation and aid in the decision-making process. We can assist in devising alternatives to APS placement.

Reintegration from Out-of-District Placement Support

When a student returns to his/her local school following placement at Green Tree School or other APS, our consultants can provide case management and educational and/or clinical support for the student, family, and school staff to facilitate the reintegration process.

Ongoing Case Consultation

Often a student with complex special needs can benefit from the ongoing consultation of an educational or clinician specialist. Green Tree consultants, through regular check-ins with a student and his/her team, can assess progress over time and offer strategic advice.

Supervision

Green Tree consultants are skilled supervisors who are prepared to provide high quality clinical and educational supervision for behavioral health workers, paraprofessionals, and others working with students with mental health disabilities in schools.
